I downloaded firefox and i removed it because everytime i download it it gets rid of my internet explorer and i need them both.
So how could i download firefox with it not getting rid of my internet explorer?
can you give me a link of where or how?
Hi there,
if you go to www.firefox.com you can download the web browser from there. downloading and installing this will not remove IE, however firefox may ask to be your default browser. It is ok for this to be the default if you plan to use Firefox more than IE. once installed both will be on your system and can be used simultaneously if need be.
Good Luck,
Thanks!
Downloading/installing Firefox doesn't get rid of Internet Explorer, probably it only makes Firefox your default browser and thus every internet page you open its opened with Firefox.
Install Firefox but don't make it your default browser, Internet Explorer should also be available.
the application "Internet Explorer" can be found at "C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\" under the name "iexplore.exe", so if you install Firefox and can't find the Internet Explorer shortcut, go to the its location, right clock on "iexplore.exe" and send a shortcut to your desktop, also place that shortcut to your quick launch toolbar by dragging the shortcut there, or in the start menu, etc.
When you install firefox, it does nodownload firefoxt get rid of internet explorer. It does change the default browser- and i'm assuming this is where your running into problems. Simply install firefox, then go back into IE (it will be in the start menu), and go into the options. Somewhere inside there it will allow you to switch it back to being the default browser.
Firefox should not be "getting rid" of Internet Explorer, just setting itself up as the default Web browser so when you click on a link in, say, a Word document, it will be called.
You should still be able to open Internet Explorer from its desktop shortcut or any other method that accesses the file iexplore.exe directly.
Hope that helps.
Im not sure, how it can be removing your Internet Explorer.
I have Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer, on my PC.
Once you have installed Mozilla Firefox, look in the following location:
Start>All Programs
Usually in the top of that list, you will find both Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer.
Firefox should not remove Internet Explorer or anything else. It may however make itself the default program for opening html files. After or during the install, there should be a question that asks you if you want to make Firefox the default web browser, just select No.
it does not get rid of your IE; at most it sets itself as the preferred browser (normally it asks for this before doing sodownload firefox); anyway, they are two different applications, so you can run IE explicitly if you need it, or go to the windows settings and change the default preferred browser to IE back.
You can't get rid of IE. Firefox uses many of its components and runs off them in the background of Firefox.
Go ahead and download FireFox.....and it may ask U which browser you want as your default...meaning the one that U see the most...but IE will still be there....just look for your desktop icon.
Internet Explorer won't just get deleted like that. Look into the settings in Firefox and switch back the default browser to IE. If for some reason that doesn't work, try doing a search for IE. It wouldn't just disappear for no reason.
You should be able to download and keep Internet Explorer no problem. You might just have to watch when it asks you if you want Firefox to be your default browser.
It doesn't get rid of IE at all. You probably just removed the shortcut to IE from your desktop.
Just do a search on your computer for iexplore.exe and right click it and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut)
I also have Camino and Wyzo.
Firefox does nothing to them.
Check your Preferences.
I wonder? I have them both without any problem. I already had IE 8. After I downloaded firefox, I made it my preferred browser.
